From time to time, drinking water can appear almost milky or even cloudy when it first comes out of the tap. If you experience this, don’t worry, usually, the color of the water is caused by excess air and disappears within a few minutes. At Dutton Plumbing, we’re here to help you with all of your plumbing needs, so read on to find out more about this type of water issue.
If you find that your water is cloudy or appears milky, fill a glass up with water and leave it to stand for a few minutes. If the color begins to change and the cloudiness moves from the bottom to the top of the glass and begins to clear, it means that the discoloration has been caused by excess air. You will notice that the tiny white air bubbles rise to the surface and the cloudy appearance will disappear. It’s important to note that cloudy or milky looking water that is caused by tiny air bubbles in the water is not harmful at all.
