When to Call a 24-Hour Plumber

Calling a 24-hour emergency plumber usually means that you’re going through a bit of a crisis. Once the initial shock has worn off, your thoughts will probably then turn to ‘not wanting to disturb’ an emergency plumber. While we appreciate you thinking of us, put your needs first. The sooner your plumbing is sorted, the less damage it will cause.

Leaking Water

A minor leak can usually be sorted at your convenience, especially if you’re able to catch the water easily. Every leak can be different, though. Leaking because of a loose fitting is one thing, but leaking because a pipe has been damaged usually results in something more serious. You must also remember that if you have water coming through a ceiling, for instance, there is a good chance that the water has already reached a good many places and is now just finding the path of least resistance, meaning that a full-on disaster could be close.

Gas Leak

A gas leak is a whole different level of emergency. As we all know, its threat to life is severe. Before you do anything, you should always think of safety first. Get you and your family to safety as a priority. If you can shut the gas off easily as you leave, then do so, but don’t put yourself in further danger.

We understand and appreciate that you don’t want to call a 24-hour plumber out for every slightest thing. We also think most people have enough sense to realize when they need one or when they may like one. We’d say that in most cases, common sense works, but if you suspect a gas leak, always be on the safe side.

We must also point out that this advice is just guidance based from experience, and we can’t guarantee the outcome of any problem. If you need a 24-hour plumber, or wish to discuss any plumbing problems that you may have, call the experts at Dutton Plumbing.
